Part A: explore the arts as a participant
Attending Rock School – Work with my band to create an original song, ‘Tacos and Cheese’, rehearse and record it, create a music video and perform the song live on stage.
How I developed my participation:
I developed my participation by being dedicated to my role within the group as a drummer and also as an artist. I enjoyed the opportunity to create a song which was professionally recorded using the multitrack process, making a video with what we had available to use and getting to perform our original song on gig night.
What I’ve learnt:
“I learnt how to play drums, I learnt everything from the start. I learnt all sorts of techniques from Jon, who taught me all I know and it’s been a really, really great journey and I’ve learnt a lot…Totes darling, I’m going to go to the Albert Hall, I’m going to be famous and stuff!” 00:28 Reflection Video
Part B: explore the arts as an audience member
It’s great to know that I’m on the right track and can apply everything that I’ve learnt to be able to play original material on stage. It’s brilliant to watch just how skilful Jon and Dave are, and with their help, I’m going to make it.
Part C: arts heroes and heroines
Hero: Joe Bonamassa
Part D: enjoying the arts
Skill – Drumming
I though the lesson was really well planned out and that Ryan had a really good go at a skill that’s hard to crack. I thought I delivered it in the right order and knew that it was right to simplify things, like taking out the bass drum for a while. It was important to demonstrate as we progressed and for me to realise that it is hard for beginners to pick up these skills.
